The grandest of them all, and architecturally, functionally, historically, romantically, the Prima Donna of heritage buildings is showing signs of distress.

 

The increasing overuse of the building is having telling effects on the building fabric; and decay had to be arrested, if not the position reversed.

The central railway authorities ordered a thorough health check and a plan of action to rectify the defects. The team has studied the building for over an year and have produced a comprehensive plan for implementation. The first of its kind among public agencies owning/operating in heritage buildings, in perhaps India, is expected to be a trend setter.
