Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad

Designed and constructed in 1936 by a French architect , the main house of Raj Bhavan has load bearing brick construction with jack arched roof slabs with a deliberate but innovative attempt to flatten the ceiling using Chicken mesh reinforcement for the lime mortar filling below the curved surface.

The building has survived more than 6 decades in excellent structural condition  with almost no perceivable physical deterioration.

The task was taken up to :

  • Arrest the corrosion of the I' sections of Jack arched roof slab by grouting existing cracks and providing anti-corrosive treatment , which is not checked in immediately could prove detrimental to the structural stability in course of time.
  • Manage the drainage of the rain water on the roof terrace by correcting the gradient and providing proper water proofing screed in lime
